K.Wasna - The Face of NaRaYa

Khun Wasna Lathouras (Khun being an honorific title in Thai society) was born in 1954 in a large Thai-Chinese family which owned a small grocery store in Bangkok. From these humble beginnings would spring one of Thailand’s best known brands.

As many Thai-Chinese families at the time required, Khun Wasna would have to leave school to help her family at home. As she grew up, she realized that learning English and finishing high school would be essential to her success. She would study at night to make up for the time she had lost, and to perfect her English at the American University Alumni (AUA) language center.

To further improve her English, Khun Wasna became a tour guide at the Ancient City in Samut Prakan. During this time, a certain Greek businessman was smitten by her personality and charm. This businessman, Vassilios Lathouras, would later become her husband and business partner.

After NaRaYa Intertrade Co., Ltd. was formed, Khun Wasna quickly became the creative inspiration for the company’s fabrics and products. With a keen eye for fashion and beauty, Khun Wasna leads a creative team in choosing the colors, patterns and textures for their handbags, which were NaRaYa’s first real success.

Khun Wasna is always excited by new possibilities. This shows in the huge range of products which NaRaYa creates every year. The products not only change in function, but also change in the looks and textures, keeping them fresh and innovative.

It is not only her talents in fashion which have made Wasna such a success in Thailand, it has been her unending dedication to helping families in need. Khun Wasna was instrumental in implementing the programs which have created jobs for over 3,000 people here in Thailand, and has given them sustainable means of caring for themselves, and educating their children.
